@Jizz
TLD: very sick stuff man, def some of my fav work from you yet. I think its intentional, but to my ears all the clicking on the synths+reverb is bothering me a bit. I think the strange super bassy “windows” noise is cool but doesnt quite work. I think you mean it to be jarring and surprising, it is, but it needs a lil more massaging to get it really work right. Lastly, when you transition to the last section (2:09~), you should use some of the noisey bits from the intro to blend the sections together imo.
Groundhog: basically un-listenable lol, good work, takes a lot to get me to turn something uncomfortable off
@faultier
Cows: lovely sampling as always, things get a little too murky during some of the drum breakdowns, might just need a tiny shift forward or back to stop some phasing? idk. The levels are set really well though, love how that snare sits in the mix
Bous: loving the ideas (maybe too many ideas for one track?), not a fan of the execution so far tho. I think removing some elements+a slightly better mixdown would help this one a lot. Def worth exploring further though.
@BudSpencertron vibes as always, could almost work without the halftime drums and be ‘more powerful’ in a way or maybe just till the part at 1:23 for a ‘drop’
@cyclopian yeh sick stuff sound design is amazing, nothing to say about mixdown either, really petty nitpicking for the sake of it but the only thing i would have liked different might be the transition between the two sections, as it is it kinda feels like two different tunes blended (as in dj’d) together, which isn’t bad per se, but maybe a more clear distinction, like having a breakdown before the big synth fades in around 1:40 could have worked too
re: your feedback on bous, it’s appreciated, but i can’t hear you over the AK-47 drumfills and airhorn samples was more of a joke track for fun, although now between your comments and Bud asking me for stems i’m wondering if i should actually polish and finish it
@Jizz tld: really lovely sound design in the intro, although agree with cyclo on the clicks, if they are not voluntary and you can’t do anything about it maybe layer some vinyl crackles or some atmospheric foley to hide them a bit? not sure about that random sound at 1:09, just seems out of place to me
that last section is also sweet
groundhog: political polkacore? the bit at 1:10 is nice and could be developed into a fully fledged idea on its own tho
@BudSpencertron yeh, i kinda agree with cyclo that it would also work with more restrained percussions as a nice soothing IDM piece, also i feel the mixdown gets a bit muddier in the last section like that synth seems to be fighting your sub for control of the midrange?
@cyclopian
nice intro
i think maybe if anything the kick could hit bit harder but i dunno how to do it here cause it kinda sounds nice as it is
i think it could work without kick too like an ambient melodic piece
very nice layering of sounds
could see this in a trailer or a film <3
@Jizz
wierd sounds right away nice
ah thats the side of your music i can get into idm like pieces
i think the sound at 1:10 should have atleast a short tail
again like for a game or in an album def a keeper
ending could be start of a new song right away
groundhog is gone but i kinda remember it
not a tune to critic on controlled madness
@faultier
cows
not my kind of vibe
hm but mix sounds good
just not something i would listen too maybe with some rap haha
bous el waddup yeah i agree with cyclopian its all over the place but dunno haha dig it
still waiting for the stems
@BudSpencertron don’t really have anything insightful to say about this one lol…would be interested to hear whats the story behind it if there’s any
@Samuel_L_Damnson (i’m just going to feedback that tune you posted in ninja dubs club here because just leaving feedback on one tuna is lame)
digging the drums (esp how the hats are driving the groove) and that sick midrange synth, really nice tearout roller, mixdown sounds on point to me, maybe personal taste but i feel you could have more going on during the intro and breakdown, maybe some subtle hint at the coki synth, like in the goblin intro? probably nitpicking tho
diggin trap thing, in my my head I hear those filtered ‘hi hats’ (the ones in the ‘trap pattern’) get louder and more bright as the tune goes along, crescendoing into a really loud reverb washed hat noise and the triplet rolls take over the whole soundscape. (not sure if this makes sense) then just cut the tune as they reach max loudness/brightness and let the reverb from them roll off into silence.
@cyclopian going for the anthem feel, sounds like you’re playing riffs. Still quite restrained as a tune though, love the simple beat. The lead stab could be brighter, maybe some higher harmony.
bous el waddup is great too, loving the energy this week man. the claps are a bit messy but i like that tbh. maybe a cheeky sidechain could help bring out the string section. great use of airhorn!
@BudSpencertron yeah the beat fits with melodies on this one, lots of space for that reverb. The eski-like synth sounds especially good in this track.
Sled
short nice instrumental, hm i guess you have to just make a mixtape or sth maybe throw over some acapellas
Trapinski
nice intro
i think maybe clean out the 808 tiny bit the crackle distracts a bit like i think its overpowering?
but it has sth def finish it its like idm rather than trap
has bit of an air vibe too
maybe a nice bell melody could complete it make it stand out
or like brass or sth warm saxophon haha
@BudSpencertron haha, amazing. dont wanna say anything about this classical masterpiece m8, big ups. dani aside, the piano work is hitting some subtlety
@faultier orson welles up in this. more flips needed imo. guessing this was a 10 minute thing, fair
trapinski: reminding me of bud’s stuff a bit! the missing snares definitely add to the vibe. could get hotter though, brighter. chords are great for something harmonic
sorry man, got cold feet on mi tunas then ended up being extremely busy for the rest of the weekend, maybe lets take this week off and reconvene next week?
@jizz
not much to critic dig both
what is the song you sampled for tool is it some tool or nirvana or sth i know i heard it before
i think you could make a clean song out of tool like cut the samples even if they work somehow but like make it sounddesign just the deep bass not even the beat
